Elizabeth,

Further to our recent telephone call, I am writing to provide some details of the forthcoming maintenance works to be carried out on the shared path which will require the temporary closure of the path from Symmonds Road to the Kathy Way near Richmond Road. We would appreciate it if you would inform your members of the works, many of whom enjoy using the path on a regular basis. A signed detour will be in place to allow both cyclists and pedestrians to navigate the closed area.

We will also be in touch shortly with specific information on further works affecting a range of areas along the shared path which are currently scheduled to commence from August this year.

Regards,

Bronwyn Hunter

Shared Path Upgrade Works — Info For Website incl KGA & BC comments send to RTA

Shared path upgrade works:

The constructors of the WestlinkM7, Abigroup Leighton Joint Venture, will be undertaking a range of works on the shared path to improve its surface.

Drainage works:

Additional drainage works will be undertaken at a number of locations along the shared path over the next three to four months.

These works will be localised and the path will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists. Each work area will be clearly sign posted and users are requested to observe these signs and the directions of traffic controllers at the various work areas. Each work area will be reinstated to a trafficable condition at the completion of each shift and pedestrians and cyclists are requested to take care when transiting these areas.

Users are advised that light maintenance vehicles and equipment will be using the path to access each work area.

Dean Park

Works to reconstruct approximately 90 metres of pavement along the shared path adjacent to Nathan Crescent in Dean Park will commence on or after 15 June 2010.

To allow these works to be undertaken and to ensure the safety of shared path users, the shared path will be closed between the Kathy Way connection near Richmond Road and in the vicinity of Symonds Road, and users diverted around the work area. Local streets to be used as part of this diversion include Symonds Road, Lyall Avenue, Nathan Crescent, Yarramundi Drive, Durward Street, Raupach Street, Newnham Street and Kathy Way.

Works are expected to take five weeks to complete, weather permitting. Works will be undertaken between 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturday. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of our activities on the local community, including accessing the work area at two locations – Symonds Road shared path connection and Kathy Way shared path connection from Yarramundi Drive via Doolan Street and Cedarwood Grove.

For more information please contact Manu Kundra from Abigroup Leighton Joint Venture on 02 9414 3333. For any after hours emergency please call the M7 control centre on 9834 9261. Information about further pavement works and temporary closures along the length of the shared path will be posted on this website at a later date. Works are scheduled to commence in August 2010.
