CAMWEST Map Usage Notes For assistance/comments please email Rob at cycling@camwest.org.au ======================= Right-Click context menu: ------------------------- Right Clicking at any point on the map produces a popup 'context menu' with links to several other mapping sites. All links open in a new tab/window. Note that the centre and zoom level of the new map may be slightly different. See notes below on the various options: Bing Aerial: * By default Bing Aerial displays a 'Local Guide' in the left pane of the screen. This can be turned off by clicking on the pane's 'Page Layout' settings icon and clicking the 'Hide Local Guide' option. SIX Maps Arial: * Aerial imagery can be older than other imagery, but sometimes higher definition. * Lot Boundary and Number overlays available. * 1943 Basemap Imagery from parts of Sydney available (Not so good for looking for up-to-date shared paths, but great for getting a perspective on Sydney from 80 odd years ago!) Google Sat View: * Standard Google Satellite View Google Map: * Standard Google Map Google Street View: * Standard Google Street View, but without the normal blue lines indicating where valid street view images are available. If you click on a street or other area without valid images, the following message will popup on the bottom of the window: 'No Street View imagery available here'. * Note that if you press the Street View 'Back' button within the Google page, the normal Google Map will be displayed, but probably not at the the same zoom level as the original CAMWEST OSM map. Colour Grad Topo: * Colour Gradient Topographical map. Unless the 'lock' box is ticked at the bottom of the scale, the map will recalibrate the scale each time the map is panned or zoomed. * When using the page for the first time, you'll be asked if you want to Accept or Reject Google ads. The page appears to work just as well if you reject ads. The decision whether to accept or reject is stored in a browser cookie which can be deleted if you wish to change your selection. * If using Edge or Chrome on a desktop PC you'll need to scroll down the page past the headings and ads to see the map. If using Firefox the page should scroll straight to the map. * This map doesn't have as many zoom levels as the other maps, so the image seen may be at a higher zoom level. * By default Cycle Routes have been turned on. These can be turned off via the layers icon if required.
