CAMWEST (Cyclists’ Action Movement WEST)


2006 Olympic Park Ride A: Sunday, 12 March, starting at 10 a.m.


Assemble 9.45 a.m. at corner of Elizabeth St and Robertson St,

at north end of the Elizabeth St bridge (the footbridge with the oars)


At 10 a.m. we will start a leisurely ride east along Thomas St, then through the campus of the University of Western Sydney to the Parramatta Valley Cycleway in the Eric Primrose Recreational Reserve; then, via the Silverwater Rd bridge (footpath) to Wilson Park and the cycleway along the south bank of the Parramatta River; exploration of the Blaxland Common (overlooking the Silverwater Prison complex) followed by an exploration of the Newington Armory. A short ride further downstream brings us to the Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf where some riders may wish to return to Rydalmere by ferry. Others will ride back as a group to the start point in Parramatta.


Distance to Sydney Olympic Park Ferry Wharf: approx. 14 kms

Distance to wharf and back to start: approx. 22 kms

Estimated return time to start point: approx. 2 p.m.

2006 Parramatta Heritage Ride B

Sunday, 9 April 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Assemble: 9.45 a.m. near George St entrance in Parramatta Park (Tudor Gatehouse).

Start: 10 a.m. sharp

End: 2 p.m. approx.

Approximate distance: 17 kms; many stops to note historic significance of sites.



Leisurely ride in Parramatta / North Parramatta area to see historic and scenic sites.

Will cover sites not covered during 2006 Parramatta Heritage Ride A (held on 5 February 2006):


Lancer Barracks, Elizabeth St bridge, All Saints Cemetery, Ritchie Benaud Oval.


Will include lunch stop at Lake Parramatta: Kiosk lunch courtesy of CAMWEST.


After lunch we’ll ride to Old King’s School Oval, Prince Alfred Park, St John’s Cemetery


Ride will end at Parramatta Park Café
